Every 3 years, the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution hosts the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition. Call for entries for the 2016 competition opens tomorrow, August 1, 2014. I've seen some wonderful portraits here on deviant art so I hope someone will enter. Here is the some info from the website and a link: Who May Enter? Here are the final two entries created this week. This has been a good run (up and downs abound) but it's been very satisfying to be creating something just for myself. I have several choices for the next journal but I'm not certain which one would be the best. I have a larger version of this one (Strathmore Visual Journal Mixed Media in the 5.5 X 8" size) but I think the paper may be too thin at that size. I also have a beautiful travel style journal of watercolor paper with 25 pages of 7 X 10" sheets at 140lb cold press. I'm tempted by this heavier paper since it should hold up well to lots of rough treatment. One of my concerns is moving
